School Calendar Schedule Change for Ash Wednesday – February 13, 2013

Dear Parents,

The original school calendar for 2012-2013 has Wednesday, February 13, 2013 listed as a minimum day, followed by a Winter Break on Thursday and Friday, February 14 – 15, 2013. Since February 13th is Ash Wednesday, we will have a regular schedule that day with the release time being the usual 3:30pm. Students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade will attend the 12:15pm mass at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart to receive their ashes and return to school until release time. Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students will receive their ashes in the classroom earlier in the day by Father Moises in order to not disrupt the students’ nap time.

I apologize if this change impacts any plans you have previously made. Please know that you can withdraw your student early that day without any implications. We simply want to make sure our students and families have an opportunity to participate in this Holy Day of Obligation with the least disruption possible. The Winter Break on Thursday and Friday, February 14 – 15, 2013, will continue as regularly planned.

Cambio de Horario al Calendario Escolar
Inicio de la Cuaresma (Miercoles de Ceniza) – 13 de febrero, 2013

Queridos Padres,
El primer calendario escolar del año 2012-2013 indicaba que el miércoles, 13 de febrero, del 2013 es un día mínimo, seguido por el Descanso del Invierno el jueves y viernes, 14 y 15 de febrero, 2013. Como el 13 de febrero es el Inicio de la Cuaresma, vamos a tener un horario normal y la hora de despedida para los estudiantes seria las 3:30 de la tarde. Los estudiantes de kínder hasta el 8º grado asistirán la misa de la 12:15 en el Santuario del Sagrado Corazón para recibir sus cenizas y regresar para la escuela hasta la hora de despedida. Los estudiantes en Pre-Kínder 3 y 4 recibirán sus cenizas más temprano en el salón por el Padre Moisés para no interruptir la hora de siesta.

Te pido disculpa por cualquier incomodidad que estos cambios han causado a sus planes anteriores. Por favor sepas que usted puedes sacar sus hijos temprano sin ningunas implicaciones ese dia. Solo queremos proveerle a los estudiantes y familias la oportunidad de participar en este Sagrado Día de Obligación con los menos interrupciones posible. El Descanso de Invierno el jueves y viernes, 14 y 15 de febrero seguirá sin interrupción.
