Hurricane Sandy Weather Update for Monday, October 29

October 29, 2012Dear Staff and Parents,The three day weekend could not have come at a more opportune time. As you know, there have been various weather updates over the past 24 hours. I anticipate there will be many more between now and Monday. At this time, we have no idea how our area will be impacted by the storm, therefore, we must wait until Sunday and Monday before making any decisions locally. It's possible that our surrounding counties could make decisions that make sense for them, but not for all. Here is how I would like to move forward:

For Staff - I will send out an email on Sunday night to all staff informing them if we will move forward with our Professional Development or not. Ms. Quijada will also send out a SchoolReach telephonic message to all staff. Staff, please make sure Ms. Quijada has the phone number you want to receive messages to through the SchoolReach system.
- I am asking all staff to call another staff member once you receive my email and/or phone call, just incase someone did not receive the call/email.
- For Parents - I will send out an email on Monday night to all parents AND staff informing them if school will be open on Tuesday morning. Parents will also receive a SchoolReach announcement informing them of the same news.
Please know that I will be making the best decision as it pertains to our school and its local community. I am aware that we have parents and staff that live in other counties that may be impacted differently than the Sacred Heart community. Those persons should make decisions based on their safety first. Staff, please notify me as early as possible of any decisions you make different than our's based on the emergency response procedures of your immediate community.

Este fin de semana largo no pudo llegar a una hora mejor. Como ustedes saben, han escuchado varios pronósticos dando reportes durante las últimas 24 horas. Yo espero que vaya ver muchos mas entre hoy y lunes. En este momento, no tenemos ninguna idea como no vas afectar esta tormenta, sin embargo, tenemos que esperar hasta el domingo y el lunes antes de tomar una decisión para nuestra comunidad. Es posible que los condados alrededor tomaran decisiones que son lógico para ellos, pero no para todos. Pues, quisiera seguir para delante de la manera siguiente:
· Para Maestros – Yo voy enviar un correo electrónico el domingo por la noche informándolo si vamos a tener entrenamiento el lunes, o no. La Srta. Quijada programara un mensaje telefónico por SchoolReach a todos los maestros. Maestros, por favor asegura que la Srta. Quijada tiene el numero de teléfono que usted quisiera recibir estos mensajes.
o Le pido a ustedes que llamen a otro compañero al recibir mi correo o llamada por si acaso alguien no lo recibió.
· Para Padres – Yo voy enviar un correo electrónico lunes por la noche para informarle si la escuela vas estar abierto el martes por la mañana, o no. Los padres también van a recibir el mismo mensaje, pero por el sistema de teléfono de la escuela que se llama SchoolReach.
Por favor entienden que yo voy a tomar la mejor decisión que le pertenece a nuestra escuela y comunidad. Estoy pendiente que tenemos padres y maestros que viven en otros condados donde pueden ser impactados en una manera diferente que la del Sagrado Corazón. Esas personas deben de tomar decisiones basado primero de su seguridad. Maestros, en el caso que usted toma una decisión diferente de nuestra escuela basado en los procedimientos de emergencia para su área local, por favor avísame lo mas pronto posible.
